This past month Pete Erskine and Steve Hawks traveled to Peru and brought back a smattering of costume jewelry, alpaca blended garments and winter accessories! In between meeting with artisan and making import arrangements they were able to sneak off to the ancient Inca ruins of Machu Picchu. A true travel gem snuggled into the hilltops at 8000 ft. with only access by foot or by train. Hidden from the masses and forgotten for centuries, “The Lost City of the Incas” was voted as one of New Open World Corporation’s New Seven Wonders of the World. If you are Street Market Animalinterested in Mexicali Blues’ Peruvian merchandise come visit one of our four stores or shop online atAlong the hiking trail to Machu Picchu mexicaliblues.com and for more on Machu Picchu checkout wikipedia.

Canvas Shopping Bags, Reduce your Footprint

Canvas Shopping Bag from IndiaCanvas Shopping Bag from India InteriorWalking through a local grocery store with a cart shock full of plastic and paper bags, I could not help, but notice all the proactive shoppers with their own bags ready for the checkout. I thought to myself I can’t wait to get on top of this trend and have a product that is both useful and yet funky and fun.

Here it is, fresh from India where there is a movement in place to try and cut down on plastic bags polluting every street corner. From the markets complete with authentic Indian ads and script. Thick durable canvas with a plastic wax finished interior (perfect for cleaning, you can even hose these off between uses if something happens to spill). Click on the images to travel to our e commerce store front where you can find these canvas shoppers for only $5!
